Condom Lorry: Exploring a vehicle loaded with condoms in a forest

28 May 2023

Yes, you heard that right, it's a 'condom lorry'. While doing research for another location, I had chanced upon a curious location tagged 'condom lorry'. Was is a lorry filled with condoms, or a lorry shaped like a condom? One day, I decided to get to the bottom of the mystery, and seek out the 'condom lorry'.

Spot the condom lorry

1100 | A walk through Chestnut Park

We started our hike along the familiar trails of Chestnut Park. Chestnut Park is still one of my preferred nature parks that still retained natural forest trails and not paved concrete paths. We soon started venturing into the smaller back trails. After many turns through the maze of smaller trails, we started to notice something in the forest next to the trail. It was stacks and stacks of flower pots. Did this area used to be a plant nursery?

Among the many rows of flower pots, we saw something else peeking through the ground. It looked somewhat like a vehicle. At first, I only saw the leaves covering the back of the vehicle, but upon closer inspection, it was loaded with old condoms labelled 'Safe & Sure' and 'Sain & Sur' (I think this is french) across its silver packaging. Lo and behold, there was indeed a condom lorry. Although it was not much of a lorry but more of an old truck which was so degraded that only a rusted steering wheel gave away its identity. This was definitely not something you see everyday on the forest trails.

I was definitely curious about how this 'lorry' full of condom came to be here and why was it carrying so many condoms? A driver on a delivery run? I guess this delivery never made it to its recipients.

My Thoughts

The forest holds many mysteries, and I had always wondered what stories these forgotten artefacts hold. This was definitely one of the most unusual finds in the forest, even after doing years of hiking and urbex. I wonder what other mysteries the forest still hold.
